I’ve been rushed off my feet so apologies for lack of posts this past week! (that rhymes!)

My anonymity essay has to be handed in today and Public Admin work tomorrow so fashion news had to be put on hold. But no more. It’s Christmas time, lets indulge ourselves in fashion.

UPDATE

The House of Commons reporting day was amazing. Absolutely loved it. Took an amazing photo within the grounds of Big Ben, the Millennium Wheel and their Xmas tree. Will upload it asap.

Found an ITV crew doing live reporting from there and chatted to the crew. Really lovely. Correspondant- very smartly dressed, however, his make up was far too thick.

Perhaps should reconsider the white trenchcoat next time. Was unecessarily cold at times. Shivering in lobby, goose pumps in conference room, you get the idea.

PARTY

Was my best friend’s (of Barry M Fame-she met him actually!) birthday party on Saturday. Had a good time. Dressed in purple concession dress from Topshop. Very vintage and ‘romantic’. I loved it. Early Christmas present from my mum in fact. Wore yummy purple suede shoes. But i’ll tell you all about them in my next post…Bet you can’t wait.

The perfect interview outfit..

Oh my. It is extremely difficult to choose what to wear when you know it will make a difference.

This is the exact dillema I had this morning. i don’t mean to sound cocky or anything but what I wear is important today. I need the perfect interview(ing) outfit.

You see, I am training to be a broadcast journalist. I’m doing my radio module at the moment.

Yeah, yeah…they can’t see you on radio but today I must go out and get people’s opinions on my story.

So…I want to look professional. If I look like a typical student (which I try not to…i mean i’m doing a masters now) people won’t take me seriously. On the other hand, if I look too business like I won’t look approachable.

What do journalists wear? Shall I take Lois Lane as my style icon?

what to wear?

what to wear?

THE WARDROBE

I pulled open my wardrobe doors and what did I see? Nothing at all practical. Great.

Actually wait a minute…I had options:

  • a black pencil skirt-although perhaps a bit too smart and the fact that it feels about minus five out there discourages me
  • a shirt dress-could be nice but draped over jeans could look overly casual
  • a checked dress-hell no, it’s freezing out there
  • a blue striped shirt from River Island with mini pearls on the white bib part. Perfect.

Ok, so now i’ve got the top half sorted, I need to complete the outfit.

Dark blue jeans-comfortable, smart, warm.

Brown ankle boots-stylish, fun, comfy.

Scarf-a silk printed affair which combines nicely with the outfit and doesn’t make the rest of what i’m wearing look boring.

Grandad cardie-it’s cute and keeps me warm. I love it.

White trench- it’s smart without me looking like i take myself too seriously.

Right, I think I’m ready for my day’s reporting. Wish me luck (i’ll let you know how I get on!!!) J x
